I have said this before, but I think it is important to say it again, those of us with a mental illness that blog about our symptoms, and our experiences with schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar, depression, OCD, PTSD, etc. need to take a break from thinking so much about ourselves and our illness every once in a while. I think our blogs are very helpful, but occasionally we need to think about other people, social issues, and the larger world. Today is my day to think about others, and to go out in the world and live life a little instead of thinking about the fact that I have schizophrenia. As we all know, we are so much more than our illnesses – we need to say it and live it. So, I leave you with three things:
I have a new blog up at Psych Central that I hope you will read and leave me a comment on it. I think it is worth the trip over there.
I have a good friend with a new novel out. I am on chapter 6 and it is a really interesting and fun read. If you are looking for a mystery/romance to read while you are sipping your pumpkin lattes, please check out her book. The book is The Black Velvet Coat written by Jill G. Hall.
Lastly, I have another good friend with a very clever and artistic blog (I love it). If you like words and you like art, you will love her blog. It is found poetry and collage. If you have a minute, pop over there and see her unique work.
I tried to visit your Psych Central blog, but I couldn’t find a way to follow it. Help, I’m confused. lol
Great post, by the way. 🙂

Thanks! One of the bloggers on here said that if you add the address to your WordPress reader you can follow it. I hope she sees this post and tells us how she did it because I don’t understand it at all – ha ha ha. If I find out, I’ll post it here. Thanks for reading my post and for the support.

It was kind of random because I do not generally read all other comments. Fate? 😉

Hi Rebecca and anonymousoutsider! For Mobile devices: If you go to your reader and click the little tag icon, you will see a small area on the top of the next screen where you can type in or copy and paste in the full website address of the non Word Press blog you want to follow. It will start appearing in your reader.
If you are on a computer, go into your Reader on the top where it says Followed Sites, and click Manage. At the top, you can enter the website address of the non Word Press blog, and it will start to show up in your reader.

Oh my gosh, thank you for taking the time to teach us how to follow other blogs! It takes me forever to figure anything new out. Thanks again!

Thank you so much! I don’t know if you’re a wordpress wizard or if I just really suck at this, but on the my site tab on my computer, the link to going to my WP Dashboard disappeared. Any idea what that is about? lol

Hmm, that is strange. I don’t know how to get you back there. However you can, whenever you do get back to your reader, go for that “Manage” thing right next to the blue “Followed Sites” button on the upper left.

When things go wrong for me, I have to contact tech support to help me out. Hey, I wish there was a tech support for mental health! HA!

Yes, chocolate helps. If I have had a really bad day, my hubby makes me popcorn. I love popcorn. Popcorn is comfort food.

My friend taught me to do it with coconut oil instead of butter. It is good that way too. (Not that you asked. And it has nothing to do with where we started. Sorry!)

We do ours with an air popper or when we use oil, we use peanut oil, and a secret spice made by a bar our friends like to frequent. HA HA. Way more info. than you ever wanted to know about how we eat popcorn in my house. HA

Thanks for sharing! I agree 100% People with mental illness or not. Taking time out of our own little bubble is healthy and a wonderful way to recharge so we can give back. As bloggers…we all want people to stop by…give us some attention…relate…yet we forget that in order to obtain that experience we need to pay it forward…otherwise we might as well be talking to ourselves lol. I’m definitely going to check out your blog on Psych Central 🙂 Congrats on that! Great site to publish your work 🙂 and I am also curious about your friends so I am going to go take a peek! Thanks for sharing! We are more than just a label 🙂 xo
